Paediatric Urology Nurses Course

The Paediatric Urology Nurses Course was attended by four staff nurses from Ward k3 Alder Hey Children's Hospital,

We found the two study days very enjoyable, informative and of great benefit. The lectures given to nurses by doctors and consultants delivered a greater insight into urological conditions. One particular lecture we found most memorable was embryology it was absolutely fascinating. The lecture also gave reasoning for a majority of the urological conditions we see on the ward. We were shown step by step diagrams and listened to the complicated development of an embryo which gave us immense comprehension of how unfortunately things can and do go wrong.

The lectures presented to nurses from nurses in some respects were a great form of clinical supervision as we could share and understand like for like experiences. This course gave nurses from the length and breadth of the country the opportunity to come together and discuss current urological practices and enabled us to question new and unfamiliar procedures. On the whole we found these lectures and discussions very reassuring as we all seemed to be practicing in very similar ways - so we must be doing something right!

We would like to thank the Kidney Fund for giving us the opportunity to attend this course not only was it of great benefit to us it was hosted in a beautiful city, our accommodation was surprisingly comfortable and the catering was excellent. Also the more 'mature' nurses among us surprisingly bumped into old friends who had move to different hospitals over the years.
Once again, thank you.
