Research

The Alder Hey Children’s Kidney Fund has recognised the benefits of research for the treatment of children with renal and urological problems.

In 1983, the Alder Hey Children’s Kidney Fund established two Research Fellowships in recognition of the contribution to Paediatric Nephology by Dr T McKendrick and the contribution by Mr H Johnston to the field of Paediatric Urology. The Fellowships provide for salary costs but the Fund has assisted with courses and other consumables used during the term of the research.

Currently the Fund is supporting two areas of research is very different ways.

Lucy Bray is completing a Nursing PhD and the Fund is meeting the costs of transcribing her interview tapes. Click here for more information about this project >

On a far larger scale, the Alder Hey Children’s Kidney Fund is supporting a three year Stem Cell therapy project. This project involves the salary payments and reagent costs for the full term. Click here for information about the University of Liverpool Stem Cell Consortium >
